The Energy of Value
There’s a great story about Pablo Picasso. Some guy told Picasso he’d pay him to draw a picture on a napkin. Picasso whipped out a pen and banged out a sketch, handed it to the guy, and said, “One million dollars, please.”
“A million dollars?” the guy exclaimed. “That only took you thirty seconds!”
“Yes,” said Picasso. “But it took me fifty years to learn how to draw that in thirty seconds.”
Understanding and being clear - for yourself - on your value is one of the most important aspects of self-awareness and self-seeing. When you see yourself clearly, you can be clear with yourself and others about the value you bring - to your work, your relationships, every aspect of your life.
When you're clear about the value you bring, you can be discerning about who and what you make space to engage with; in essence, only others that appreciate and respect your value.
Others cannot see your value if you cannot see it for yourself.
Often times I get clients and perspective clients who ask why I charge so much when other psychics "do it for free", "do it for the love of it", or "do it just to help others". Those things are important, and I am in the business of helping others, of course. However I still have to put a roof over my head, still have to feed my dog, and I still have to take care of myself.
My rates are set where they are because I am clear on my value to my clients, and I am clear on what I bring to a session - over 2,000 hours of intense, professional training in my field, working with some of the best psychic teachers in the world. I've been studying and practicing reading as an art form for 13 years. I feel confident in the value that I bring to my clients.
It has taken me a long time to understand and appreciate the energy of value. When people complain or ask about why things are "expensive" I ask - why would you go to someone who didn't value themselves to charge what they are worth? Why would you not value your own time and experience that much?
